The State Book Festival (“we,” “our,” or “us”) welcomes authors, illustrators, and literary professionals to participate in our annual celebration of books and creativity. This Authors Policy outlines the terms and expectations for authors engaging with the festival through appearances, signings, panels, and submissions.
Authors must be invited, approved, or registered through official festival channels before being included in any program or event.
Participation may include book signings, readings, panel discussions, workshops, or other agreed activities.
Authors are expected to provide accurate personal and professional details during registration.
Books must be submitted for consideration by the deadline communicated by festival organizers.
The festival reserves the right to approve or decline submissions at its sole discretion, based on relevance, schedule, or available space.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted works do not infringe copyright or violate applicable laws.
Books may be sold at designated festival areas, either by festival vendors or directly by the author (with prior approval).
Authors agree that pricing, discounting, and sales handling must comply with festival guidelines.
Promotional activities (flyers, giveaways, signings) must be pre-approved by festival staff to ensure smooth visitor experience.
Authors must attend scheduled appearances on time and notify organizers promptly of any changes or cancellations.
Professional conduct is required at all times. Harassment, discriminatory behavior, or disruptive conduct will not be tolerated.
Authors are responsible for travel, accommodation, and related costs unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Authors retain all rights to their work.
By participating, authors grant the festival a limited license to use their name, likeness, book covers, and approved excerpts for promotional purposes (website, social media, press).
The festival is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to authors’ property, books, or materials brought to the event.
Authors agree to indemnify and hold harmless the festival, its staff, and partners against any claims arising from their participation or submitted works.
Festival events may be photographed, filmed, or recorded for archival, promotional, or educational purposes.
By participating, authors consent to the use of such media featuring their participation without additional compensation.
The festival reserves the right to modify schedules, reassign panels, or cancel sessions if required.
In case of cancellation of the festival due to unforeseen circumstances, the organizers are not liable for costs incurred by authors.
By confirming participation in the State Book Festival, authors acknowledge that they have read and agreed to this Authors Policy.
